This is the 27" x 41" one-sheet from Mel Brook's BLAZING SADDLES as designed by the John Alvin for the film's 1974 original release.
From 1974 this is the National Screen Service poster used by the theaters during the film's run.
This is NOT a subsequent reprint, reproduction or digital copy produced for public sale.
Condition of poster is fair to good. The fold lines are still visible. The poster is still vibrant, clean and retains its surface gloss however the edges show the history of being pinned, stapled, taped for display and there are several tears and tape debris along the edges. Three of the corner points have missing paper and there is a 2 inch tear at the lower center fold, below the tag line. There is a "ghosting" 2 inch circle stain faintly visible at the far upper right corner. Apart from the tears the edges remain smooth and there is no surface scuffing or wrinkling. As noted, all colors remain extremely strong and vibrant. This poster would still look striking if properly matted and framed beneath glass. It of course could easily be fully restored with proper linen backing by a conservator.
The back of the poster is clean & smooth except for short pieces of masking tape at four locations along the edge (they do not show through to the front).
Poster will be rolled and safely packaged in a waterproof rigid cardboard container.
